Intolerance reigns again!

It was reported in the news that Prof Kuravilla George has came out with 150 other doctors and medical practitioners a few weeks ago against same-sex marriages because they say that there is clear evidence that children from families with a mum and dad do better in all parameters than children without.

Can you believe they would present factual evidence like this? I can!

Can you believe the reaction to this medical finding? I can't!

Tolerance is the capacity for or the practice of recognizing and respecting the beliefs or practices of others. There is no intolerance whatsoever in presentation of this medical evidence. How does this evidence show disrespect and the inability to recognize the beliefs of others? It doesnt. It presents facts from medical studies and findings. Does the fact that my aboriginal friends run faster then me discriminatory or intolerant? Does the personal opinion of my speed in this matter also change the truth of the matter? No!

Why are people so angry about these 150 medical workers? Why has there been such an intolerant response to this evidence presented and the actions taken? Why is there such personal disrespect shown to the medical practitioners? It is clear here that the public, especially Karen Phelps from the AMA, are intolerant towards the 150 medical practitioners, not the other way around. How objective is Dr Phelp's perspective on this? Why is the right to practice as a homosexual perceived as being more important than the right to speak against it with respect?

I respect homosexual people, recognize the way they chose to live their life and their right to personal opinion. This does not mean that I have to personally agree. This does not mean their opinions are true and mine by comparison are not.

Let's all stop the hypocrisy and begin a tolerant discussion where we both commit to seeking the truth of the matter while maintaining respect for each other. It is obvious from the debate in this country over the last year that both views cannot be true! Which one is true and best for the community in all aspects of life? That is what we should be debating in a TRUE tolerant environment, if we still remember what that is.
